Hello, My Dear American Friend.
This is a heartfelt song of friendship, born from a precious memory in postwar Busan. A 15-year-old Korean shoeshine boy and a young American soldier in his twenties first met simply as a boy polishing shoes and a customer passing by. Yet that chance encounter grew into an unforgettable friendship, as the two spent a beautiful week together exploring Busan and sharing moments that would remain in the boy’s heart for a lifetime. Decades later, now in his seventies, the former shoeshine boy created this song in the hope of finding the American friend he had never forgotten. More than a song, it is a message sent across time—a remembrance of friendship, gratitude, and the enduring bond between two young people from different worlds.
